Jenny Nickerson, the city's building official, briefed the council on 2025 construction activity and projects to watch. She listed recently opened or completed projects including the Swire Coca-Cola distribution expansion (top valuation), the UPS retooled facility, the new Dave & Buster's and the Scale House Market at The Quarry. Nickerson highlighted ongoing industrial and transit projects, tenant improvements, and several multifamily and residential proposals in permit review, including Marabou Place (about 300 units in 12 buildings), Orchard Vista multifamily and Miraboo multifamily developments.
Nickerson said some projects are visible now (siding, paving) while others remain in land-disturbance or permit-review phases. She noted Honeywell's Copperfield metals facility and Avista Stadium concession repairs as commercial projects in planning or early construction and reminded the council that some permit timelines vary by project complexity. Councilmembers asked specific questions about properties and timelines; Nickerson said she would follow up if additional details were requested.
The presentation was informational; no action was required.
