Woodinville joins Bee City USA to encourage pollinator habitats and pesticide reductions

The Woodinville City Council voted unanimously on July 8 to adopt Resolution 664, designating the city as an affiliate of Bee City USA. Pollinator Pathway Northwest representatives outlined four program elements staff would implement: a city webpage, a pollinator‑friendly habitat program with annual area tracking on city property, an integrated pest‑management policy, and incorporation of the commitment into the comprehensive plan.
Supporters and staff said the program will guide planting along the Eastrail corridor, reduce pesticide use on public lands, and provide community education. Deputy Mayor Randolph and other councilmembers praised the volunteer group’s persistence and the city’s public‑works staff for initial plantings and said staff will serve as liaison and coordinate GIS mapping for habitat tracking.
Vote: The motion to adopt Resolution 664 passed unanimously.
