Staff described a community event on Thursday, Oct. 30—branded "Trick or Tree"—to distribute small evergreen saplings at City Hall from 3:00 p.m. with a flexible closing time if attendees remain. Staff said the trees historically have been small evergreens (recent years cited as redcedar and Douglas fir) and promised planting information would be available at the event. Outreach will include social media and school communications to reach families at the 3–6 p.m. time slot.
Council asked whether species and planting guidance would be provided; staff confirmed the nursery‑sourced species will be listed at the event and that planning staff can answer follow‑up questions. The council unanimously approved the proclamation.
