Recreation director says lifeguard recruitment remains a challenge; swim-at-your-own-risk continuing

Kirkland said the town is still actively recruiting and exploring options to bring in vendors for swim lessons and water-safety classes.
Kirkland noted that the town’s swim-at-your-own-risk approach the past couple of years had produced no public complaints and remains an option if lifeguard staffing is insufficient. Board members thanked her and asked that updates be provided as hiring continues.
Next steps: Recreation staff will continue recruitment efforts, evaluate vendor-provided swim lessons, and report back to the board as plans develop.
