The board voted to authorize payments that included COBRA and several municipal customer payments and appropriated certified monies for the county’s MCAT fund. It approved transfers among the social services, zoning and general funds and a transfer earmarked for the county jury department. The commission also approved a contract for airport snow removal for the 2025–26 season.
Commissioners authorized Rhythm Architecture to provide schematic architectural services for the Neil Avenue Building and approved a motion authorizing the county chairman to sign the agreement. The board also approved participation in the County Employee Benefit Consortium of Ohio Incorporated (SEPCO) to help control employee benefit-plan costs.
On grant matters, the board approved two resolutions to execute local jail capital project grant agreements under House Bill 96 and House Bill 2 for county jail facilities and authorized the chairman to sign the agreements. During discussion, staff said the state’s reimbursement structure for jail projects has shifted and that the county already has advanced approximately $300,000 toward a project that could be reimbursed once state paperwork is processed; the state reimbursement amount mentioned in the meeting was described as about $5.5 million in aggregate for the project referenced by staff.
All consent items were moved, seconded and approved by voice roll calls recorded during the session. The board also voted to advertise notice for a public hearing on a county zoning map amendment changing a parcel from residential to commercial.
The meeting recessed and later returned to regular session before adjourning.
