The Westborough Finance Committee received updates Aug. 15 on a set of capital projects and related enterprise-fund issues.
Architects for the community center will present multiple design scenarios in public sessions (three options were referenced), and the committee was advised to watch the architect presentations across the hall and return the following week for its own meeting.
The library building committee reported initial cost estimates for roof and repair options; staff said bids came in somewhat higher than earlier expectations but scope adjustments may bring final estimates near prior projections. The golf club municipal building committee said architects narrowed options to either a hybrid (retain front historic section, rebuild rear) or an all-new two-story building; budget estimates are next.
Liaison discussion also covered wastewater treatment plant flow calculations and the town’s interest in meter prototyping to detect water loss. Committee members asked staff for cost estimates and to develop budgets for each capital option where appropriate ahead of fall meetings and warrant scheduling.
Next steps: architects will present design options publicly; staff will collect cost estimates and budget impacts and return to the committee for review.
