Select Board authorizes brief extension while E.L. Harvey contract negotiations continue

The board authorized a short extension (to Sept. 11) to allow staff to finalize unresolved contract language and review July tonnage data in negotiations with waste contractor E.L. Harvey over recycling and tonnage costs.
Town staff reported progress in negotiations with E.L. Harvey (waste/recycling contractor) but said critical tonnage and cost information remains outstanding. Given those open items, staff sought and the Select Board approved a short extension of current arrangements to Sept. 11 to allow time for additional data collection and agreement on contract language.
Board members noted the negotiation team (including assigned board negotiator and town counsel) has been exchanging draft language and that responsiveness from the vendor had improved. The board directed negotiators to continue work and return with a fully executed contract or further recommendation before the new extension expires.
