Planning staff, committees report: B‑wall outreach, committee appointments and Ellis Walker property grant

Planning staff provided several department updates at the Oct. 1 meeting. Town planner Jenny Gingress said the planning department is preparing outreach for the B‑wall project (West Park Drive), including brochures, kiosks and a Westborough TV presentation; materials will be available at town meeting and via community partners. The board also discussed stakeholder and public outreach for the open‑space plan and a stakeholder meeting scheduled for the following day.
The board appointed Christina Kelleher as the planning‑board representative to the Community Preservation Committee by voice vote. Members debated whether the planning board needs to maintain representation on Sustainable Westborough or whether the sustainability coordinator (a community development staff member) can serve as liaison; staff will follow up with the select board on committee composition and report at the next meeting.
Board member Mark Silverberg announced the town received a grant to acquire the Ellis Walker property on Bowman Street and that purchase and grant reimbursement are being finalized; the property is expected to open to the public by spring pending paperwork and partnership with local land‑trust groups.
The board approved minutes for the Sept. 17 meeting with one minor edit and adjourned.
