The Municipal Building Committee tentatively set a meeting for December 19 at 8:00 a.m., with a caveat that the meeting could be cancelled depending on decisions to be made by the full board at a Dec. 3 meeting about the community center project's timing.
Committee members discussed the possibility of delaying the community center project to use town-owned community center space for temporary library operations rather than paying for a temporary relocation. One committee member said a single bidder had quoted about "$680,000" for temporary library relocation, and members flagged cost savings from using town space if timing allowed.
Members questioned which architect would design temporary space; the committee discussed whether the rec center architect or the library architect should lead that work and whether the Municipal Building Committee would assume oversight of the library project if project duties shift. The committee agreed to tentatively schedule Dec. 19 at 08:00 and to cancel the meeting if not needed after the Dec. 3 board decision.
Christy, representing town staff, also announced a public meeting on December 12 to provide a broader public update on the regional dispatch center; the meeting will include two other town managers and the design team and committee members were invited to attend.
The committee adjourned after the scheduling items; staff will confirm whether the Dec. 19 meeting is necessary.
