Corinne, representing the Civic Events department, told the council the city recorded more than 121,000 attendees at civic events over the past year (excluding events held inside schools), and previewed a busy spring and summer calendar.
Highlights included a large youth council presence (28 students traveling to the legislature the next day), an expanded youth theater program with doubled capacity, an extended farmers market that will run through September, the Miss Saratoga Springs pageant in March, a redesigned parade float for patriotic events and plans for a large Salute to America celebration June 29. Corinne said the department hopes to use a new indoor events facility for expanded programming and encouraged council attendance at events.
The council praised the reported attendance increases, asked staff to ensure events are added to the city calendar and congratulated the Civic Events team on growth in programming.
