Tennessee Senate suspends rules to adopt MLK observance, schedule State of the State joint convention and passes multiple bills on first and second reading

Both resolutions were adopted by voice vote and motions to table reconsideration were entered.
Leader Johnson also moved to suspend Senate Rule 25 to allow the governor to timely file budget and budget implementation bills by Monday, February 9; the suspension passed without objection. Earlier, members adopted the proposed schedule for the week of 01/19/2026 by voice vote. The Senate adjourned at the end of the session until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday next.
