Wellsville council certifies 2025 municipal election results; Lindley led Latham

The Wellsville City Council on Nov. 18 reviewed and certified the canvass of the 2025 municipal general election after a staff presentation of vote totals and voting-method breakdowns.
Scott Wells presented the canvass report and supporting numbers: the city had 2,373 registered voters and 1,223 ballots cast (51% turnout). Staff reported 961 ballots were dropped in the drop box, 256 by U.S. mail, and six in person; 21 ballots had verification issues (13 of those were cured), and 12 arrived past the deadline. Overseas military ballots were also included in the canvass totals.
Vote totals in the mayoral contest and city races showed 640 votes for Chad Lindley and 580 for Carl Latham, with three undervotes or blank ballots recorded. Council staff also noted two city council seats were uncontested because only two applicants filed for those positions; those candidates will fill the seats.
Following the presentation, a motion to certify the canvass report and official statistics for the 2025 municipal general election was moved, seconded and approved by the council.
Council members thanked staff for the canvass work and noted turnout was an improvement over previous contests in the jurisdiction. The certification is the formal step that completes the canvass process and allows the city to finalize election records.
