Commission approves Children’s Justice Center mental-health contract and VOCA amendment

The Duchesne County Commission unanimously approved a local contract on June 30 to fund mental-health services at the Children’s Justice Center (CJC). Cheryl, representing the CJC, introduced staff members including Tiffany Reyes (victim services specialist) and clinician Cicely Rios and presented caseload statistics for the fiscal year: 211 cases opened (July–May) and 319 therapy sessions delivered by Cicely.
Cheryl told the commission the contract covers approximately 293 therapy hours per year under the local grant and that the state’s VOCA program will provide an amendment (state contract #230346) handled electronically; Cheryl said the VOCA amount for mental-health therapy is $58,754 and the overall state contract with the CJC for the year is $203,032. Commissioners asked about administrative responsibilities and the contract terms; Cheryl said only dates and amount changed this year.
A commissioner moved to approve the mental-health contract; the motion was seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote. The commission also approved a motion to accept the state VOCA amendment when it arrives electronically and to provide the electronic signature as directed by staff.
Next steps: staff will sign the VOCA amendment via the emailed electronic-signature workflow when the state sends the amendment and will return any additional documentation to the commission if substantive changes are required.
