Representative Jackson of Clark used his time for a constituent-style address, praising Jackson High School’s recent athletic championships and saying the district’s coach had been recruited away: “They have taken him from us,” he said, framing the loss as part of broader competition for coaching talent. Other members congratulated Jackson’s teams and noted athletes heading to collegiate programs.
Later in the morning a member moved that the House stand in recess for committees to meet, to leave the journal open until clerical work is complete, and to reconvene on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 9:00 a.m. The speaker called for the ayes, and upon hearing them declared the House in recess.
