Residents Urge Transparency; Chamber Names New Leadership at Murphy Council Meeting

Trahan described upcoming events including business card exchanges at the Murphy Community Center, the Jingle Jog and Christmas in the Park, and a ribbon‑cutting for Arwa Yamini Coffee.
Maynard Little of 100 Saint Mark Drive told the council that some city business “is far from transparent” and alleged that city consultants, staff and council members have used “deceptive” language to avoid direct answers. Little said two council members have not responded to his inquiries and challenged a council member to list the specific statements he called lies. "If any elected or appointed official falsely accuses a constituent, that official should not hold office and should resign," he said.
Mayor and council acknowledged the comments; no formal action was taken during the meeting on the transparency concerns. Councilors later discussed several agenda items related to funding and board composition.
