Panel backs bill to make job vacancy postings seven days year‑round

The Education Policy Committee advanced House Bill 225 after Representative Smith described the measure's effort to standardize job-vacancy posting requirements.
"All this is doing is standardizing this to be a 7 day posting," Representative Smith said, noting that school systems or superintendent boards could opt for longer posting periods if they choose. Representative Smith and visiting superintendents who were present supported the simplification.
Representative Morris moved the favorable report and Representative DuBose seconded; the committee approved the motion by voice vote.
The bill now moves to the next stage of the House process.
