Alabama House warns members of winter storm; budget hearings moved, reconvene date left fluid

The presiding officer said the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) was predicting hazardous travel in northern Alabama and stressed safety, asking members to watch for a Sunday afternoon update on whether the House will meet as scheduled. As a result, planned budget hearings originally scheduled for Monday were rescheduled for Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
The speaker told members, “we certainly don’t put anybody’s health in danger by traveling on bad roads,” urging attendees to keep phones handy for the update. The floor then proceeded with routine committee reports and a slate of resolutions and bill votes.
