Lago Vista — During the public-comment period, residents urged the council to address two community concerns: the visual impact of existing billboards and safety issues around drug use in schools.
A resident who identified herself (name read by the mayor) asked that the city start the process to remove grandfathered billboards on US‑1431 near Lohman Ford, arguing they are unsafe, obstructive and risk the city’s Scenic City accreditation. She noted Lago Vista currently holds a platinum Scenic City designation and asked council to prepare a plan to remove or mitigate existing grandfathered signs.
Travis Greeley, speaking at his first council meeting, recounted personal family impacts from drug use tied to local schools and urged the city to press for stronger enforcement and coordination between the school district and police. Greeley said fentanyl and other substances are widespread and described frustration with what he characterized as lack of enforcement on campus.
Mayor and council asked both speakers to submit follow-up information by email so staff could route the matters to the appropriate staff and board channels for follow-up. Council members thanked speakers for bringing their concerns forward.
