A resident who identified himself as Ricky Bamed told commissioners he lives on Fincastle Drive in Ashland and described U-turn concerns, neighborhood cut-throughs and pedestrian safety risk for high-school students crossing local streets. "I'm concerned about the traffic ... I'm really concerned about their safety," he said.
Commissioner Schiefler closed the public hearing and moved to recommend approval subject to conditions dated Sept. 23, 2025; Commissioner Ross seconded the motion, the clerk called the roll, and the motion carried. Commissioners encouraged the resident to follow up with the Potomac district supervisor (Chair McPhail) and staff to ensure his concerns are considered before the Board hearing.
Next steps: the recommendation advances to the Board of County Supervisors; staff and the Potomac supervisor were asked to remain available to address the resident's traffic and safety questions prior to that hearing.
