Later in the session, Representative Penny moved, "pursuant to senate joint resolution 7 76, I move that the house do now adjourn to reconvene Monday, October 20 at 10AM, subject to the standard stipulation set forth in rule 15.1." Representative White seconded the motion; the chamber again voted by voice and the presiding officer declared, "The ayes have it, and the house stands adjourned."
The session was described on the floor as a pro forma session "required for us to move the business along and keep the chamber open for business," a procedural step that preserves the body's ability to process business and meet statutory timelines while the membership is not conducting full legislative business.
