The Frisco City Council approved direction to prepare an ordinance updating downtown architectural standards (zoning case ZA25-2) after a staff presentation and a brief public hearing with no public speakers.
John Lettler, director of development services, said the update focuses the downtown code on architectural standards (tripart architecture: base, middle and top), clarifies district maps from the 2018 plan and allows some material variation — including a more metal aesthetic in specified brownlined areas — while discouraging ad hoc material use that could degrade overall character. Planning & Zoning unanimously recommended approval, Lettler said.
Councilmember John moved to open and then close the public hearing (no speakers) and then moved to approve item 32; the motion passed 6-0. Council members noted the timing is appropriate given Main Street reconstruction and the city’s upcoming 150th anniversary planning.
