Severance board recommends $500 community grant to Windsor Suburbs Historical Society

Severance’s Citizen Advisory Board on an administrative recommendation agreed to forward a $500 community grant request from the Windsor Suburbs Historical Society for approval.
Town staff told the board the historical society has received community grants from the town since 2022 and that the grant packet showed no issues. Staff said $1,000 remains in the community grant fund, that remaining funds roll over, and that a new application round begins in January.
A representative of the Windsor Suburbs Historical Society described how the money has been used for two annual events: a farm tour in Bracewell that drew about 330 attendees this year (up from about 150 the prior year) and a November commemoration at Homestead House. The representative said the grant helped pay for free materials for homeschool children and food at the November event: “We provide food for that. We provide all the stuff for the homeschool kids. It's all free to them,” they said.
Board members moved and seconded a motion to recommend that the grant be approved; staff conducted a roll-call recommendation and the board recorded its approval.
The board directed staff to forward the recommendation to the appropriate approving authority and noted the town will open a new grant round in January.
