Frisco City Council approves rezoning for 4.1-acre hotel site near El Dorado Parkway

The Frisco City Council on Dec. 2 approved a rezoning request that clears the way for a value-brand hotel on a 4.1-acre parcel south of El Dorado Parkway. Director of Development Services John Lettler told the council the applicant, Kimberly Horn & Associates, is requesting Office-2 zoning to allow a hotel use; Planning & Zoning recommended the change unanimously.
Lettler said the request aligns with the city's future land-use plan and that staff received no written opposition. Councilmember Angelia moved to remove the item from the table and Burt seconded; after opening and closing the required public hearing with no speakers, the motion to approve the rezoning passed 6–0.
Council discussion noted the site backs to a power-line easement and is near sports and industrial uses, which make value-oriented hotel options appropriate for the corridor. An applicant representative referenced an interest in a Hilton Home2-branded option, though no final operator or development contract was presented to the council at the hearing.
The council directed staff to prepare an ordinance consistent with the approved zoning change. The item had been tabled at a prior meeting (Nov. 4) and was taken off the table and approved on Dec. 2.
