The Health Commission voted to recommend that the Board of Supervisors authorize the Department of Public Health to accept and expend donated COVID-19 test kits from the California Department of Public Health. Solomon Gabbala, IT Procurement Director for the San Francisco Health Network, said the donation comprises about 88,000 test kits with an approximate value of $528,000 and that the kits are used across hospitals, clinics and jail health to prevent COVID-19 transmission.
The resolution was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote without remote or in-room public comment on the item. Gabbala said the department expects additional test-kit shipments in coming months and offered to answer questions about distribution and management.
