Commission approves several administrative contracts; EV chargers and security cameras move forward

The Decatur City Commission approved routine administrative items on Nov. 3, including a contract with EnviroSpark Energy Solutions to install three dual-port Level 2 electric vehicle chargers at the police department and a Johnson Controls contract to upgrade the public works security camera system.
Rebecca Bryant, interim energy and sustainability manager, requested Commission approval of a $36,748 contract and a $45,000 project budget for the police-station chargers. Staff said the project is supported by Georgia's make-ready infrastructure program for underground conduit and that funds are available in the FY25/26 capital improvement budget.
Assistant Public Works Director Felix Floyd asked commissioners to approve a $28,521.34 contract with Johnson Controls and a $35,000 project budget to replace five existing cameras, add four cameras and install Cat6 cabling at the public works facility; footage will be transmitted over the city's fiber ring to the police video server for recording. Both motions passed on voice votes.
