Council advances amendment to arena contract that would raise per-ticket fee to support capital work

Bossier City Council introduced an ordinance Nov. 4 to amend and extend the management contract with ASM Global for Brookshire Grocery Arena.
Tyler Slanovec, general manager for ASM Global at the arena, told the council the company has managed the venue for 25 years and highlighted economic and community benefits from concerts and other events. "We've welcomed over 7,000,000 guests in 25 years to Bossier City," Slanovec said, and described a busy slate of events planned for 2026.
City staff explained the contract amendment would extend the agreement (staff described a five-year period) and raise a per-ticket restoration/parking fee from $3 to $5. City counsel or staff said $4 of the fee would be retained by the city for capital maintenance and infrastructure, and $1 would remain with ASM Global to support venue operations and transportation improvements. "Increasing that from 3 to 5 with $4 being sent to the city... allows us to continue to stay competitive in the landscape and make sure that we can make the improvements that are necessary," Slanovec said.
Council members discussed off-duty police coverage and the fee's role in funding traffic and safety improvements; the mayor's office, police and ASM will coordinate needed operational arrangements. Council also asked for a traffic strategy to reduce post-event egress times.
What’s next: The amendment was introduced on first reading and will return for further consideration consistent with the council's ordinance and procurement processes.
