Red Rover owner urges Bossier City Council to open settlement talks in public comment

During public comment, Cody McKellar of Red Rover addressed the council and urged officials to engage in serious settlement negotiations in pending litigation against his business. McKellar said the city attorney’s approach has been to "litigate to punish" and that continuing to litigate would cause unnecessary attorney fees paid by taxpayers.
McKellar said his company had placed what he described as a fair settlement offer on the table and offered copies of that offer to council members and the mayor. He asked the council to study the offer and to authorize meaningful settlement discussions that, he said, would be in the best interest of all parties.
David Crockett and other members of the public later echoed concerns that the city's handling of the dispute has been "a blemish" on the city and urged council leadership to pursue resolution to avoid higher costs and further community harm. The council acknowledged the comments and the clerk accepted McKellar’s written materials for dissemination to the record.
