Franklin County supervisors approve secondary road claims, agree to bid ditch-and-roadway spraying contract

On procurement, Unidentified Speaker (S3) recommended the county "go out to 4 bids again" for the ditch and roadway spraying contract and asked whether the board preferred a one-year term with an option to renew or a two-year contract. Supervisors settled on advertising a one-year contract with an option to renew at the exact same price. S3 summarized the suggested contract language: "The contractor now... acknowledges by signing this contract that this contract will not automatically renew at the end of the contract term. However, the board of supervisors may renew the contract at any time at their discretion for the exact same terms as the current contract." The board instructed staff to place the solicitation in the newspaper and to notify local contractors.
The action was procedural; no final award was made at the meeting. Supervisors said staff would prepare the bid advertisement and return with proposals for a later decision.
The meeting then moved to other agenda items, including a budget amendment request and operational updates on snow removal and equipment repairs. The board dropped the local session to join a scheduled Zoom meeting with Wright County on drainage later in the agenda.
