Franklin County supervisors approve FY2026 budget amendment, authorizing courthouse work and land-acquisition funds

County staff outlined changes added to the amendment, including an allocation to the land acquisition fund for potential conservation purchases, initial funding to start courthouse tuckpointing and an electrical upgrade, a server upgrade for county systems and legal fees for the board’s attorney. Staff also noted a small revenue increase arising from employer-of-record fees and an ICAP safety grant.
Supervisor (Speaker 2) opened the public hearing and staff (Speaker 1) summarized the items. "There is, sound that for some land acquisition for by conservation..." Speaker 1 said, describing the land-acquisition line as contingent: if the purchase does not occur, the money will remain in the land-acquisition fund.
Following the hearing, the board moved to adopt Resolution 25-75. The board took a roll-call vote and recorded 'Aye' from Lukensmeyer, McVicker and Ganesh; the resolution passed. Earlier in the meeting, the board had also approved Resolution 25-74 authorizing destruction of specified special-election and city school election records once contest periods expired.
The budget amendment lays groundwork for the courthouse work to advance into preliminary contracting phases; the land-acquisition amount was described as placeholder funding and will only be spent if a qualifying conservation purchase proceeds.
