Eureka council approves security bid, chlorinator parts and yearly water system maintenance

At its Oct. 27 meeting the Eureka City Council approved several procurement and maintenance items affecting public safety and water operations.
The council accepted a bid for a lights and security system from a contractor whose name was pronounced in the meeting as Brinkerhoff (recorded also as 'Brinkworth' during discussion). The motion to accept the bid was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Council also approved accepting bids and purchasing necessary chlorinator parts and moved to pay a bill for the bookmobile with an arrangement to invoice the local school district for reimbursement. Those motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice votes.
Separately, the council discussed and adopted a yearly service and maintenance agreement for the city’s chlorination system. A council member explained the certification and service are required annually to maintain compliance, and recommended the installer who originally set up the system because of familiarity with local conditions. The council approved the standing maintenance arrangement by vote.
Staff was directed to implement the contracts and return any final agreements or invoices for recordation.
