The Dardenne Prairie Board of Aldermen elected Keith Windemann as acting president during Monday's meeting after two nominations.
Unidentified Speaker 5 nominated Windemann, saying, “I nominate Keith Windemann.” Another nomination was offered by the presiding official for themself. The board took a voice vote; the presiding official said the vote produced a majority for Windemann and declared him acting president.
The election followed an explanation earlier in the meeting of the acting president’s statutory responsibilities: to perform the duties and exercise the powers of the mayor in the event of a vacancy, disability or temporary inability of the mayor to perform duties, with the mayor resuming authority when able.
After the election the board approved the consent agenda and proceeded to public comments and ordinance business.
The board adjourned at the end of the evening; Windemann thanked members for their support during closing remarks.
