Grant updates: Kathy told the board revised grant materials were submitted to meet a Feb. 7 deadline. Ordinance/Bill 2508 (Weldon Spring Road) now shows a total project cost of $2,614,252 with the city’s cost share listed as $104,570; the federal portion in the packet is cited as $2,000,091.04 and an application fee figure changed (the packet shows the earlier $67.50 figure replaced by $10,457). Bill 2509 (Safe Roads to Schools) was revised with the city’s cost share decreasing from $116,938.01 to $52,358.43. Kathy said the revised versions are in the meeting packet.
Other business: The board discussed an ordinance to change aldermanic term lengths (options of two or four years). Several members recommended tabling the measure until the board is at full membership after the April election; a motion to table passed. The board approved a $500 sponsorship for the city holiday celebration at the community college and asked that the city name be visible on materials.
Traffic and equipment: Aldermen reviewed crash counts at the intersection of Bridal Road and Fisey Road and asked staff to have the city engineer evaluate possible mitigations, noting some approvals may require coordination with O'Fallon. Staff also summarized Bill 2511, a recommended purchase of a 61‑inch deck mower (Skag) through cooperative purchasing not to exceed $13,000, to meet right‑of‑way mowing needs.
Next steps: staff will continue grant administration, prepare ordinance language where directed, coordinate engineering review for the intersection, and prepare the mower purchase item for the regular meeting.
