The engineer said crews will diamond-grind Stump Road in coming weeks and that the Weldon Springs Drive project is advancing but delayed in part by coordination with MoDOT and temporary signals. Board members and staff described repeated accidents at the junction and said residents called for greater enforcement during peak hours.
"I asked them to increase their presence during the high commute hours around there to try to prevent speeding," the chair said, and stressed the jurisdictional complexity: the road is patrolled by O'Fallon, highway patrol and the city's officers. Staff and the engineer said the most productive long-term solution may be a roundabout, but that constructing one requires staging and could take many months; in the short term a temporary stoplight or additional officer presence was discussed.
Next steps: staff will coordinate with MoDOT and O'Fallon about potential temporary traffic controls and increase police presence at peak times; longer-term roundabout planning and staging will continue with expected multi-month construction timelines.
