Dardenne Prairie approves IT manager and executive assistant/deputy clerk positions

The Dardenne Prairie Board of Aldermen approved two new staff positions—an IT manager and an executive assistant/deputy clerk—to address technology gaps and provide high-level administrative support.
Kathy (City Administrator, Speaker 8) told the board the city contracts for basic IT troubleshooting but lacks strategic IT planning and device lifecycle management; she said AmeriCom found that about 11 of roughly 15 devices were at end of life and out of warranty. Kathy also said she spends significant time on clerical and ordinance drafting tasks and that adding support staff would free senior staff for strategic priorities: "I generally work 82 to 85 hours in a pay period."
Kathy presented a payroll-to-revenue comparison: the city's payroll-to-revenue ratio is about 15.6% versus roughly 21% for Lake St. Louis; with the two positions and anticipated salary adjustments, Dardenne Prairie would be around 18%—still within a reasonable range, she said. Speaker 3 moved to approve the positions, Speaker 7 seconded, and the board approved the motion by voice vote.
The board did not detail job descriptions or final salary ranges in the meeting; staff indicated the positions are expected to be funded from existing salary expense allocations.
