Board approves staff to proactively maintain MoDOT right‑of‑way until agreement reached

Board members raised concerns about cost, equipment wear, and staffing; city staff said the intent is to respond to resident complaints and only perform additional mowings where community standards are not being met. The board also discussed sign placement at municipal boundaries and whether some existing welcome signs are in the wrong place.
Mayor asked for a motion to authorize staff to proactively maintain MoDOT right‑of‑ways as needed until a long‑term agreement can be reached. Alderman Gettlemeyer moved; Alderman Detwiler seconded. The motion passed on a voice vote. The motion authorizes staff discretion to schedule additional mowings and directs staff to pursue a formal intergovernmental agreement with MoDOT for long‑term maintenance terms and cost responsibilities.
