City engineer reports steady traffic on Bates Road; board votes to solicit new trash-hauling bids

City Engineer Matt Davidson reported on a nine-day traffic count on Bates Road that showed modest variation at two monitoring points but no sustained year-over-year increase. "Overall traffic counts on Bates Road have remained constant year to year, and we do not see evidence of a significant increase," Davidson said, noting one location was 12–18% higher than MoDOT's 2024 counts while another was 4–23% lower, and that the differences average out.
City Administrator Kathy Pratt briefly recognized staff and officials who participated in Prairie Day and announced newly issued business licenses for Cross Country Mortgage, Title Resources (off Bridal Road), Sunny Perch Soaps (home-based business), and Beck Aesthetics and Wellness (medical spa).
On procurement, Alderman Johnson moved that the city seek competitive proposals for hauling/trash services; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The motion directs staff to solicit bids and return recommendations to the board.
The board then moved and approved adjournment. The special work session ended after the votes.
