Dardenne Prairie proclaims honor for local under‑19 U.S. cricket player Adna Jam

The Dardenne Prairie Board of Aldermen presented a proclamation Oct. 15 honoring Adna Jam, a local junior named to the USA Cricket under‑19 national squad and selected to compete in the Americas qualifiers for the ICC Under‑19 World Cup. Mayor Keith Witteman read the proclamation recognizing Jam’s batting records, leadership roles and community service.
‘‘It’s more than just a field to us kids,’’ Adna Jam said, thanking the city, his family, and his coaches. He credited local programs and the American Cricket Academy and Club for providing ‘‘the infrastructure, coaching, and tournaments that helped me grow as a player.’’
Mayor Witteman said the city would affix its seal to the proclamation and extended best wishes to Jam as he competes in the qualifiers. The recognition highlighted the city’s recent investment in a cricket ground and the role local sports programs play in youth development.
No formal action beyond the proclamation was required. The board moved on to the remainder of its agenda after Jam’s remarks.
