Aldermen vote to place $100 monthly pay increase for aldermen on next meeting agenda

The Dardenne Prairie Board of Aldermen voted at its Nov. 19 work session to place an ordinance on the next meeting agenda that would raise alderman pay by about $100 per month and eliminate a separate electronics stipend.
City Administrator Kathy summarized an Evergreen Studies compensation review showing alderman pay was roughly $100 per month below comparable cities. Several aldermen, including Alderman Detweiler and Alderman Gittemeyer, said the increase would recognize routine constituent work outside normal hours and that removing the separate stipend would simplify budgeting.
Alderman Detweiler moved to reintroduce the compensation change as an ordinance at the next meeting; Alderman Wilson seconded. The board approved the motion by voice vote with "Aye" and no opposition recorded.
The city attorney was asked to draft ordinance language for the next meeting. No final salary ordinance was adopted tonight; the motion only places the item on the next meeting's agenda for possible formal consideration and vote.
