The Royal Oak DDA reviewed and approved an amended draft RFP Dec. 17 to secure social-media services for downtown marketing, content creation and analytics.
Staff presented a draft RFP modeled on prior solicitations, proposing a three-year contract window and a scope covering strategy, content creation (photo/video), website work and analytics. Board members raised concerns about including web design (staff and the city are already working on a website update) and about multi-year commitments. Directors recommended removing the website piece, considering a shorter test term (suggested six months) and prioritizing locally based content creators rather than large agencies.
Staff said they will refine the RFP to omit website design, revise the response window and bring the amended RFP to the marketing and business development committee in January for further review; the board then approved the amended RFP and the administrative approach to circulate the revised version for comment.
Directors also asked staff to verify budget availability, ensure clear evaluation criteria and preserve termination clauses in the contract to allow easy exit if the contractor does not deliver.
