Bryce Canyon City approves $75,000 to support local ice rink operations

Council members discussed options and confirmed a placeholder in the town budget for rink support. Speaker 2 opened debate on a proposed town donation; Speaker 1 moved to provide municipal support and the motion was seconded by Cam. The council approved the donation on a voice vote. The motion carried as a voice vote with all present saying “Aye.”
The council did not specify a formal repayment schedule or binding memorandum of understanding for the funds; Speaker 1 described past donations as discretionary and said Ruby’s Inn’s contribution in prior years had been voluntary. Council members requested follow-up accounting of how the town funds would be used for operations, loan payments and shed/roofing work before the next peak season.
The council’s approval is intended to cover the association through the coming spring and into next summer; Speaker 1 said that additional resort-fee receipts typically arrive in January–April and could reduce the town’s net contribution later in the fiscal year.
