New mayors introduce themselves to Duchesne County Council of Governments

Several newly elected mayors introduced themselves to the Duchesne County Council of Governments during the meeting's welcome period.
Tommy Olson, mayor-elect of Roosevelt City, said he previously worked as Roosevelt’s recreation director and in the oil field, and that he wants to "do the citizens of Roosevelt justice." Philip Scott Allen (legal name Philip Scott Allen), who said people call him Scott and identified himself as mayor-elect of Altamont, described his 18-year residency and family obligations. Linda Harrington, mayor-elect of Verminton, said she was encouraged to run, praised the mentorship of a predecessor and said she expects to ask many questions as she learns the role.
Commissioners and other members also used the opening portion of the meeting to thank outgoing mayors, present token gift baskets assembled by staff, and capture a group photograph. The council approved the minutes from its Sept. 22 meeting by voice vote earlier in the session. The meeting then moved on to a presentation from the Uintah Basin Association of Governments about the state’s new Utah Project Portal.
The introductions were largely ceremonial and provided new mayors a chance to outline backgrounds and express eagerness to work with neighboring towns and the county.
