The North Logan City Council on Oct. 8 approved a Community Wildfire Preparedness Plan that staff prepared jointly with Cache County and the Logan City Fire Department as part of the city’s broader Emergency Preparedness Plan.
Alan told council the document is a guidelines component rather than a formal ordinance and noted some place-name/text errors tied to joint authorship that staff will correct. Chief Thompson emphasized the plan’s role in coordinating efforts across jurisdictions and described how the plan ties to state wildfire mapping and compliance with the cooperative wildfire system (CWS) program; staff said separate WUI-line and ordinance work will come back to the council in the coming weeks.
Emily moved to adopt the plan, Mark seconded and the council approved it by voice vote. Council members said the plan enhances readiness and thanked staff and regional partners for the collaborative effort.
Staff will make minor text corrections and continue work on any ordinance items related to WUI lines once the state map and related guidance are finalized.
