Council OKs property exchange to enable 2400 North access for Waste Management

The North Logan City Council voted Oct. 8 to authorize the mayor to sign an agreement that will facilitate a property exchange enabling construction of a 26-foot, all-weather access to Waste Management on 2400 North.
Jordan, representing city staff, explained the proposal: Logan City holds a parcel intended for a future 200 West roadway; the agreement would trade that parcel to Daryl Anderson (DWA Construction) in exchange for property on 2400 North that the city needs to pipe a ditch and create a wider right-of-way. Jordan said the exchange avoids a city financial obligation; DWA would front construction and benefit from acquiring the 200 West parcel for future roadway work.
Councilmember Emily moved to authorize the mayor to sign the agreement; Kenny seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. Council members praised staff negotiations as resolving a long-standing access and right-of-way issue.
The authorization instructs staff and the mayor to finalize the boundary/transfer paperwork and proceed with the property swap so the roadway improvements can move forward.
