Mendon City Council voted on Nov. 11 to approve Resolution 2025-11, authorizing the sale and assignment of the city’s cell-tower lease and directing the mayor to execute documents necessary to complete the transaction with Vertical Bridge.
Mayor Ed Buist explained the resolution formalizes approvals the council previously delegated to the mayor and legal counsel: "Resolution number 2025-11, a resolution authorizing the sale of the Mendon City Cell Tower lease and authorizing the mayor to execute all documents necessary to complete the transaction," Buist read. The resolution text cites Utah Code Annotated §10-8-2 as authority for the city’s action.
Marilyn (city staff) prepared the resolution packet; councilmembers had no substantive questions and approved the resolution by voice vote. The measure states the city found the assignment and sale would "provide immediate financial benefit to the city and that such sale serves a valid public purpose pursuant to Utah Code Annotated §10-8-2." The resolution takes effect immediately upon adoption.
What’s next: staff (Marilyn and the city recorder) will coordinate signature routing and finalize closing documents; the city did not disclose the sale price in the meeting record.
