North Logan council outlines 2026 goals, including branding, e-bike safety and civic engagement

At a work session on Jan. 7, the North Logan City Council reviewed and prioritized goals for 2026 and discussed committee assignments for the year.
Alan presented a consolidated list of goals submitted by council members and described the process for tying those goals to staff action items and quarterly reporting. He urged clearer linkage between the council’s strategic directives and staff’s action items to improve accountability.
Councilmember Larry said his top priorities are e-bike safety — citing close calls he’s observed — and resolving issues tied to the city’s potential name change and ZIP-code/taxation collection. “The e bike situation, the state, county, and local understanding. I’ve had too many close calls with those that I think something needs to be done,” he said.
Other council members emphasized branding, wayfinding and outreach. Councilmember Emily proposed a City Hall 101 or city academy program to educate residents about municipal operations and train community advocates. Alan and others said the city has begun a branding guide and suggested consistent social-media style and gateway signage to help residents and visitors identify North Logan distinctly from neighboring jurisdictions.
The council also reviewed committee assignments (library board, planning commission, police commission, cemetery, trails and others), discussed scheduling constraints, and agreed to formalize developer pre-application review opportunities at regular times to improve coordination. Several council members volunteered for or affirmed committee roles; a few deferred final decisions pending schedule checks.
Councilmembers asked staff to better integrate goal tracking into meeting updates and to prepare a quarterly financial and goals report in the coming months.
