Airport board adopts landing fee for non‑based aircraft over 6,000 pounds

Unidentified Staff (S4), who presented the resolution, told board members the proposed fee ‘‘is only for non based aircraft over 6,000 pounds’’ and that the authority does not intend to extend it to based small aircraft. The staff estimate for revenue from the fee is about $20,000 annually.
Board members asked several operational questions during discussion. One member asked how much the fee would raise; S4 said ‘‘it should be about 20,000 a year.’’ Members also discussed the vendor and technology needed to track landings: the system currently in use (Vertower) requires a specific vendor, and that vendor charges a fee of about 22 percent, which was described as the vendor’s cut of gross collections.
Unidentified Board Member (S3) moved to approve Resolution 2025‑01; the motion was seconded by another board member and, after a brief roll call, the board approved the measure with one recorded nay. The motion passed and the board directed staff to proceed with implementing the fee under the scope described in the resolution.
The resolution as presented applies only to non‑based aircraft above the indicated weight threshold; board members noted that if the scope were later expanded to include based aircraft, the board might consider a public hearing at that time. No public hearing on based aircraft fees was scheduled as part of this action.
