The council approved a request from Kachina Ridge Development for a power-line extension to serve a proposed development on the east bench above Hurricane. Power department staff and developer representatives said Kent Stevens and his team had obtained required easements and worked with the utility to reconfigure circuits to free capacity for the project. Staff said the developer agreed to pay for switching and equipment costs required to make the extension feasible.
Council members asked about the construction timeline, whether the city or contractor would build the line (staff said it will be contracted out), the need for UDOT approvals, and the relationship of utilities to other infrastructure (pipes, water, traffic). The developer said construction will align with UDOT approvals and the project’s construction drawings; staff said they will not delay the line once approvals are in place.
Council voted unanimously to approve the power-line extension request and the recommended plan developed by power staff and the developer.
