The Richfield Planning & Zoning Commission on Tuesday closed the hearing and voted to table a request to rezone property at 160 East 500 North from RM-11 (residential) to CS (commercial shopping).
Planner staff introduced the item, saying the owner wants to change the zoning to allow a metal building to fabricate rain gutters and store equipment. Staff noted the property is near existing commercial shopping and that any commercial structure would have to meet the city's design and appearance standards.
Commissioners said they had legal notice and could proceed but preferred the applicant be present to answer questions. A motion was made to close the hearing and table the item so the applicant could attend. The commission carried the motion by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will notify the applicant and the item will return to the commission agenda for further consideration when the applicant or a representative can attend to address design, site-layout, and any ordinance-compliance questions.
