Wasatch students celebrate 'I Can Only Imagine' art contest; district winners to be published

Wasatch County students from elementary through high school presented artwork and artist statements at the board meeting; district winners will be published in Heber Valley Life Magazine and displayed across district facilities and the county library this summer.
Angie Neuberger and Amy Taylor, who co-led the Emergence Art Contest, presented winners across grade bands and explained the program’s goal of showcasing student creativity and providing publication opportunities. "The art emergence program...has been going for 5 years now," Neuberger told the board, and sponsors include Wasatch County Art Council, the district, CAPS, Heber Valley Life Magazine and the Wasatch Community Foundation.
Students read short artist statements describing their pieces and creative intent. Lucy Hagen (K–2 winner) described "Under the Sea" as an exercise in imagination; middle- and high-school winners spoke about themes ranging from friendship to possibility. The district expects to publish district winners in the summer edition of Heber Valley Life Magazine and plans to hang artwork in district spaces and the county library from May to July.
Board members thanked the artists and organizers and took a group photo for the magazine. The program leaders noted plans to continue expanding participation and to post entries and teacher testimonials in the board packet and district communications.
