PEAK donates three vans to Wasatch County School District; 5K fundraiser set for May 3

Erin Sabey, a PEAK board member, told the Wasatch County School Board on the evening of the district meeting that PEAK has donated three vans to the district to increase community access for students with special needs. "We were able to donate 3 vans to the district," Sabey said, adding that the vehicles have supported field trips, job-site visits and life-skills activities across elementary, middle and high school programs.
Sabey said each van has been used about once per week this school year, and teachers included testimonials in the board packet highlighting uses such as trips to the National Ability Center, OT outings and backup transportation for behavior-regulation needs. "This mobility not only supports career development but also strengthens community engagement and builds the confidence students need to thrive beyond the classroom," one teacher wrote in the packet and Sabey read aloud.
Board members thanked PEAK for the donations and for the group’s fundraising work. The organization said it is planning a 5K wellness fundraiser at the Wasatch track at 10 a.m. on May 3; proceeds support PEAK programming and future vehicle purchases. Sabey said PEAK is pursuing funding to add a fourth minivan to expand capacity for multiple classrooms to travel on the same day.
The board did not take formal action on the presentation; members expressed appreciation and noted staff will coordinate invitations for the upcoming 5K.
